Bar Wellington is a favourite local meeting spot in the downtown Wellington area. A perfect neighbourhood watering hole, the bar is truly for everyone, having been frequented by musicians, movie stars and regular folks alike.

The location of the restaurant is significant, as it stands at the corner of Portland and Wellington, which was once the main thoroughfare from distant Fort York to the town. Also, it is situated across the street from Victoria Memorial Square, once a military and civilian cemetery where the daughter of the first lieutenant-governor of Upper Canada, Lord Simcoe, was laid to rest. Bar Wellington is a charming renovated Victorian house, which offers casual, friendly service and an eclectic environment.

The food is gastropub fare with a twist. The menu features plenty of starters and sharing plates, such as Crispy Fried Calamari ($10), Nachos ($12) and their Not So Classic Wings ($12), done the way you’d like in your choice of Curry, Thai or BBQ sauce. If you’re feeling a bit more peckish, try one of their pastas like the classic Baked Macaroni and Cheese ($14), or a sandwich, like their 6oz NY Burger ($12). There are also items from the Oven and Grill, such as the Pan Seared Rainbow Trout ($17).
